Fistball players start the Bundesliga and World Cup season

With the Fistball World Championship in July in Mannheim (Germany, July 24th - 29.7.2023th, XNUMX), an absolute highlight is on the program again this year for many of the SSV Bozen fistball players. The Bundesliga season that is now beginning should serve as optimal preparation alongside training camps and tournaments. The expectations of the fistball players are high. “The goals for the season are very clear this year. We want to get promoted back to the first Bundesliga and assert ourselves as a top nation at the World Cup,” explains veteran and captain Simon Prudenziati.

After the home European Championships in Kaltern and the World Games in Birmingham last year, where the Italian team impressively demonstrated itself as the fifth best fistball nation in the world, there was a significant change in the team. With Christian Scartezzini, Thomas Meran and Florian Runer, three regular players ended their careers both in the national team and at SSV Bozen. “Due to the simultaneous loss of three defense specialists, the first Bundesliga could not be maintained last year. However, with a younger and hungry team, we want to achieve promotion again immediately. We definitely have the quality for it, but the season is long and the opponents are strong,” says coach Jörg Ramel optimistically.

2 home games to start This weekend two Austrian teams will be guests in Bolzano. At 14 p.m., coach Jörg Ramel's team from Bolzano will play against WN TV HAKA Wohnplan Enns 2, followed by FBC LINZ AG Urfahr 2. “We can start this season with two home games and want to use this advantage to start the new one with two wins to start the season. With two games in one day, it will be crucial to keep concentration and focus high,” explains Philipp Deutsch before the game. German will be one of several youth players who will have the chance to represent themselves for the national team through the championship this year.

“This year we have a density of players like never before in Italian fistball. Many youth players will fight for a few World Cup tickets. “That makes us stronger,” says Ramel. The second Bolzano team also starts league play this weekend. For the first time, the Upper Austrian regional league will fight for promotion to the Bundesliga.

The games at the Helmut Koler facility on the Bolzano water wall start on Sunday at 13.00 p.m.
