Frisbee: The goats barely miss the sensation

In the last match of the regular season of the Italian Frisbee Championship, the Goats from Bolzano met the Frisbee team Ultimate Frisbee Oltrefersina, or UFO for short. With a clean slate - four wins from four games - the team from Trentino had already qualified for the play-off for promotion to Serie B before the last game. The “goats” of SSV Bozen, who were in second-to-last place in the table, went into the game as extreme outsiders, but were all the more energetic.

In the first half, the motivated people of Bolzano dominated the game almost at will and were surprisingly - but deservedly - ahead 8:4 after the first half. After the break, the people of Bolzano scored another point, but then the UFOs switched from first to fifth gear and started a furious comeback at 9:4. In the 60th minute of the game the score was 11:11.

In the remaining 20 minutes of the match, the Goats only scored one point, while the UFOs won the game with a final score of 14:12.

“It's a shame that we couldn't keep the lead we built up in the first half over time. Unfortunately, in the second half we lost too much of our fitness and made too many easy mistakes, which our opponents mercilessly converted into points,” says captain David Gruber, analyzing the game. “Nevertheless, we can be proud of ourselves! Not just on this game, but on the championship as a whole. We succeeded in the premiere. Next year we will come back with more experience, better technology and even more fighting spirit,” says Gruber with certainty.

At the end of the regular season, after five games played, Bolzano is in 5th place in the table with three points. Series C is divided into three regions (North-East, North-West and Central). Only the best two teams in each region fight for promotion to Serie B in the play-off at the beginning of June.
