The anticipation of two international events is increasing in Vinschgau

Ortler Bike Marathon On Saturday, June 1st, the upper Vinschgau will be all about mountain bikers. The 5th Ortler Bike Marathon with start and finish in Glurns is coming up. Participants have two routes to choose from. On the marathon route, bikers have to overcome 2 kilometers and 90 meters of altitude. The Classic route, on the other hand, has 3000km and 51hm. The start and finish are in the Glurns sports zone.

A Just for Fun race without time pressure is also offered over the short route. Athletes can compete here without a medical certificate.

Both events were presented on Wednesday at the Kolpinghaus in Bolzano.

The Ortler Bike Marathon is one of the most important mountain bike marathon races in South Tyrol and now also one of the best-known in all of Italy,” said Antonio Lazzarotto (President of the Bolzano Regional Committee of the Italian Cycling Association) at the press conference on Wednesday. This is one of the reasons why the field of participants is again top-class this year. In addition to last year's winners, Juri Ragnoli (Italy) and Esther Süss (Switzerland), many other top bikers are taking part. Stelvio Marathon On Saturday, June 15th, the Stelvio Pass belongs to mountain runners. The Stelvio Marathon will be held for the third time.

On the marathon route starting in Prad (915 meters), the runners go up to the top of the pass (2757m). 42,195 kilometers and 2350 meters in altitude demand everything from the runners. The other routes also lead to the top of the pass, the classic route with 26 km and 2250 m asl and the short distance with 14 km, which starts from Trafoi.

The Ortler Bike Marathon is classified as a Green Event and the Stelvio Marathon as a Going Green Event. Both events are focused on sustainability. “Respect for the environment is an essential feature of our event,” said Roland Angerer (from the OK team), responsible for catering at the Stelvio Marathon.
