Multi-EM in Munich: The South Tyrolean results at a glance

The final decision day at the Multi-European Championships in Munich 2022 has arrived, and the European Championships are already over for the South Tyrolean athletes. The largest sporting event since the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich brought together around 11 of Europe's best athletes in the sports of beach volleyball, canoeing, climbing, athletics, cycling, rowing, table tennis, triathlon and gymnastics from August 21th to 4.700st. For the 10 South Tyrolean participants, the Multi-European Championships came to an end with the MTB cross-country race on Saturday. The conclusion is mixed: An absolute highlight was certainly the top performance of the young track cyclist Matteo Bianchi, who was named vice-European champion in the 1-kilometer time trial and was once again able to show his great talent. The climber Filip Schenk and the table tennis player Giorgia Piccolin also showed impressive competitions. Other South Tyrolean aces, such as the mountain bikers, fell short of expectations. Italy is in third place in the medal table with a total of 42 medals. The top nation at the 2022 European Championships was host Germany with 46 medals, 21 of which were gold. The concept of the Multi-EM in Munich was a complete success; around the heart of the event, the Olympic Park, the entire city was dressed up for a spectacular and incomparable experience. Concentrated top-class sport in numerous disciplines, framed by a colorful festival, created an excellent atmosphere for participants and spectators.
