Football With the exception of FC Südtirol, Virtus Bozen and the Oberliga, no football will be played in South Tyrol in the next few weeks. Training is still allowed, but the championship games are suspended until November 30th ( SportNews berichtete ). After 3 weeks, i.e. mid-November, it will be evaluated whether the first half of the season can still be continued. How realistic this scenario is is another matter. What is curious is that South Tyrol applies stricter rules here than in parts of the rest of Italy or Trentino. Many leagues can still be played there - just like in neighboring countries like Austria, for example. South Tyrol's women's footballers fared better. Because Serie C (with Unterland and Brixen), Oberliga, U19 and U17 championships are held nationally and regionally, they are allowed to continue playing. Hockey Of all the team sports popular in South Tyrol, ice hockey fans will have the most action on offer in the next few weeks. It is questionable whether HC Bozen (ICE Hockey League) due to his corona cases is in action at the weekend, but the league continues in any case. The AlpsHL clubs also continue to play championship games, as do the Italian Hockey League clubs. However, everything below these (semi) professional leagues has come to a standstill. From the U9 to the Serie C championship, only training is allowed. Games may not be played. On Thursday, the national ice hockey association in Milan officially canceled the Blue Teams' participation in the Euro Ice Hockey Challenge and various youth tournaments, from U15 to U20, planned for November. Volleyball Volleyball is similar to football. Because the South Tyrolean association has not yet drawn up any game plans, there will be no play. An exception is Serie A3 club AVS Bozen, whose national championship will continue. The following applies to all other South Tyrolean volleyball players: training sessions are permitted, no matches will be contested. Handball The two highest handball championships with South Tyrolean participation are – despite several corona cases – not interrupted. Serie A and A2 are organized nationally and will continue to be played. Everything else (i.e. everything from Serie B downwards, including youth) was put on hold. These championships were actually supposed to start in mid-November, but nothing will happen now. The same applies to handball: training sessions are still permitted, but friendly games or similar are not.
