Official presentation of the 5th Brennercom Sailing Week

The Brennercom Sailing Week is celebrating a small anniversary this year. For the 5th time, the sailing competition is being organized by the Salten Yacht Club with President Siegfried Rungaldier at the helm.

This year the sailing will take place in Croatia from May 4th to 10th. The actual racing begins on Monday, May 6th in the afternoon and ends on Thursday, May 9th. Two races are planned on each competition day. Of course, this depends on the wind and the weather.

At the presentation of the Brennercom Sailing Week 2019, the board of the Salten Yacht Club was able to welcome all 21 teams (new participation record). Team Annalisa, Team Auto Hofer – Weico, Team BMW Auto IKARO, Team Brandnamic Sailing Team, Team Brennercom Sailing Team, Team Dallmayr Import Sailing Team, Team HELL Commerce, Team Schöne Aussicht and Team Vinschger Wind have been at the start since the 1st edition.

As an introduction, everyone present was shown the video from the 4th edition. The new teams in particular were impressed by the pictures. Details about the races and goals were also announced. Afterwards, everyone present was treated to delicacies from their kitchen by the kitchen team led by Tobi and Florian from the “Luis & die Buabm” inn.

The first day of sailing ends on the small island of Zminjak (pictured below), which is located a few 100 meters north of Murter in the Kornati Islands. The 4,4 km² (equivalent to about 6 football pitches) island is only inhabited in summer.

The second day of competition ends in Salì (picture below). The small but lively town has 2 inhabitants. Salì is known for its olive trees, which are up to 1.700 years old.

On the third day the sailing boats anchor on the island of Katina (picture below). This island forms the entrance gate to the Kornati National Parks and connects the two islands of Dugi Otok and Kornat.

On the 4th day, the 21 sailing boats reach their destination on the island of Zut (picture below). There are no permanent residents on this island. The island's dwellings are holiday apartments or seasonal restaurants. Due to the agricultural use of the otherwise barren island, olive trees, fig trees and grape vines can also be found there.

There are also daily reports about the Brennercom Sailing Week in the daily newspaper “Dolomiten”, on Südtirol 1 and SportNews.bz. The program: Saturday, May 4th: Registration and check in in Biograd. 1. Skipper briefing at 17.30 p.m. Sunday May 5th: Training day Monday, May 6th: Training in the morning, first race in the afternoon starting south of Zminjak. Tuesday, May 7th: 2nd day of regatta with destination Salì. Wednesday, May 8th: 3rd day of regatta with destination Katina Island. Thursday, May 9th: 4th regatta day with destination Zut Island. Afterwards award ceremony. Friday, May 10th: Return to Biograd with return of the boats.
