Olympic exit: short tracker Seidel fell again

Pyeongchang (SID) For German short track hopeful Anna Seidel, her second Olympic Winter Games ended prematurely after another fall. The 19-year-old ran into the side of her Dutch competitor Yara van Kerkhof in a curve during the 1000 m heat in Pyeongchang and was disqualified. Seidel was eliminated in the semi-finals of the 1500 m on Saturday after two falls in two races. She reached the quarterfinals in the 500 m. "I felt good. The 500-year-old was eliminated from the 1500 m and 27 m races after the first run. “That was a great run,” said Walter. World champion Elise Christie was surprisingly eliminated. The Brit came second in her heat despite a foot injury, but incurred two penalties and was demoted to the bottom of the ranking. Jong Kwang Bom from North Korea also had a bad time in the men's 500 m. Despite the cheers from the well-respected cheerleaders from the dictatorial neighboring country, the 16-year-old fell in the first corner and was eliminated. Hosts South Korea won the women’s relay race. Silver went to Italy. In a dramatic final, the teams from China and Canada were disqualified after video analysis. The Netherlands benefited from the decision, having won the B final with a world record (4:03,471).
