Perkmann and Vorhauser triumph at the BOclassic Südtirol Nightrun

Defending champion Hannes Perkmann literally flew over Waltherplatz on Saturday evening and then along the 1,25 kilometer long loop, which the around 220 registered athletes had to complete a total of four times in the “delayed” BOclassic Südtirol Nightrun.

From the starting signal, the 28-year-old from Sarner dictated the pace, increased his lead lap by lap and set a new fantastic course record in 15.12 minutes, which also kept him 18 seconds below the fastest time ever set in the women's elite race. “I am of course very satisfied. My form is really good. I am currently preparing for the Verona Half Marathon with my coach Alex Stuffer. The training seems to be having an effect,” smiled Hannes Perkmann at the finish.

Hannes Perkmann took almost half a minute off his worst opponent, Michael Hofer from ASV Deutschnofen, in his second BOclassic success. This meant that he also managed to get revenge for the Meran-Algund Half Marathon, where Hofer had been ahead three weeks ago. Third place in the BOclassic Südtirol Nightrun went to Martin Plankensteiner, who covered a total of 5,1 kilometers in 16.04 minutes. Vorhauser also with a start-to-finish victory Lara Vorhauser was unbeatable among the women on Saturday evening. The 21-year-old from Grasstein in the municipality of Franzensfeste won with a time of 18.47 minutes. Vorhauser took the lead immediately after the start and was able to gradually expand her lead. “It was a strong race for me today and of course I’m happy with my performance. It was fun to run here in Bolzano. What do I have planned for the next race? “Actually nothing concrete yet,” was Vorhauser’s first statement shortly after she arrived at the finish line. The day's winner from Wipptal relegated Francesca Tonin, who competes for the Calcestruzzi Corradini Excel club from Emilia-Romagna, to second place (19.08). Petra Pircher, another South Tyrolean, took third place. The veteran from Laas reached the finish after 20.08 minutes.
