Red Bull Air Race: Dolderer ready for second world title

Cologne (SID) The dethroned world champion Matthias Dolderer wants the crown back. After a rather mediocre year in 2017, the 47-year-old from Tannheim wants to compete on the 2nd/3rd. Set course for his second title in the Red Bull Air Race World Championship season starting in February in Abu Dhabi. “We want that back,” he explained, “the whole team is highly motivated.” Last season, Dolderer only achieved two podium places in eight races and went without a win. This meant that he only finished the World Cup in midfield. The defending champion is the Japanese Yoshihiro Muroya. The spectacular aviation series includes eight stations, the venues for three of which have not yet been determined. In the Red Bull Air Race World Championship, pilots navigate their light and extremely maneuverable racing aircraft at speeds of up to 370 km/h and centrifugal forces of up to 10G just a few meters above the ground through a course that extends from 25 m high inflated pylons.
