Giant slalom: Fourth silver for Rothfuss - Kreiter operated on after broken collarbone

Pyeongchang (SID) Andrea Rothfuss (Mitteltal) won her fourth silver medal at the Paralympics in Pyeongchang. In the giant slalom, the 28-year-old was once again only beaten by her big competitor Marie Bochet from France in the standing class. Rothfuss had already taken second place in downhill, super-G and super combined. For Bochet it was the third gold in South Korea. In contrast, Anna Schaffelhuber and Anna-Lena Forster, who are used to success, surprisingly came away empty-handed when the Japanese Momoka Muraoka won. Schaffelhuber (Bayerbach) and Forster (Radolfszell) only took fifth and sixth place in the sitting class. Anna-Marie Rieder from Garmisch-Partenkirchen achieved an impressive sixth place in her Paralympics premiere in the standing class. The visually impaired Noemi Ristau (Marburg) narrowly missed the podium in her class and had to settle for fourth place. In the men's category, paraplegic Georg Kreiter (Murnau) had an unfortunate fall in the giant slalom in the sitting class. The 33-year-old suffered a broken collarbone and was operated on in Pyeongchang on Wednesday. Kreiter will fly back to Germany with the team on Monday. His teammate Thomas Nolte (Brauschweig), however, remained uninjured in a fall. So far, the German racers have been extremely successful at the Jeongseon Alpine Center. In addition to Rothfuss' four medals, Schaffelhuber won gold in downhill and super-G as well as silver in the super combined. Forster won this.
