Swedes and Russians dominate team sprint at the Rollerski World Cup in Toblach

Marcus Johansson and Anders Svanebo from Sweden were unbeatable in the team sprint on Saturday. The Swedish duo completed the 6x4 kilometer route (both athletes took turns running three laps each) in 39.58,57:40.17,87 minutes. The Scandinavians were in third place at the first change, then worked their way forward and gave full throttle on the last two loops. The second-placed French Baptiste Noel (40.27,65) and the “Azzurri” Sergio Bonaldi/Eugenio Bianchi (XNUMX) in third place were unable to keep up with this pace.

In the women's category, Ksenia Konohova and Elena Rodina from Russia beat their compatriots Svetlana Hvostunkova and Maria Kozekaeva by almost a minute in 31.24.28:XNUMX:XNUMX minutes. The Italians Flavina Toma and Erika Bettineschi came in third place. The athletes ran the four-kilometer route a total of four times (two laps per capita), just like the juniors.

The junior race was an all-Russian affair. It was by far the most exciting decision on Saturday, because on the home straight there was a sprint for victory between three Russian teams. In the end, Vadim Andreev/Alexander Gavrilov prevailed with a lead of 0,25 seconds over Andrey Nishchakov/Anton Budylov. Third place went to Ivan Petrunin/Ivan Zhilinskiy, 0,27 seconds behind the winners.

The Russian anthem was also played at the junior women's award ceremony for Elena Lukionova/Liubov Skrebova. Anna Bolzan/Lisa Bolzan (Italy) took position on the second highest podium of the podium, while Tina Willert/Kira Claudi from Germany came third.

There were no South Tyroleans at the start on Saturday after Dietmar Nöckler won the men's race in the classic running technique on Friday and Stephanie Santer came second in the women's race, just 0,53 seconds behind the winner.

On Sunday, the World Cup finals in roller skiing will continue with the individual races in the free skiing technique. The starting shot will be given in Toblach in the “Nordic Arena” at 10 a.m.
