Sigi's tips: Corona lurks in the stadiums

Together we should be strong. Actually. After all, it's against an army that we still don't really know. Like nebulous ghosts, their soldiers dance over our heads and sneak into our bodies. We strike, take action, take measures to get this foreign power under control. Yes, perhaps even forcing her back into the laboratories from which she has apparently escaped. Covid-19 and no end. Because the desired strategy of unity against this stubborn enemy is nothing more than a pipe dream in a Europe of individual vanities. Everyone is closest to themselves and never even dreams of swinging a sword together against illness. It's big and small. Very few people park their car in such a way that there may be space for a second vehicle for their occupants so that they can get out easily. Me first. I. After me the deluge. This describes a selfish attitude that is only concerned with one's own advantage. There are hardly any examples of how this could be avoided. The whole of Europe is a collection of nations that all believe that they alone can stop the virus with ever new and complicated measures. As in many other areas, there is no uniform policy when it comes to containing the pandemic. The Puskas Stadium in focus Now two examples once again make it clear how wild, uncontrolled and self-obsessed institutions, some of which are backed by governments, are acting in the fight against Covid-19. In a few days, FC Bayern is scheduled to play the Supercup against FC Sevilla at the Puskas Stadium in Budapest. That's actually quite nice. It is organized by the European Football Association (UEFA) and has almost become a tradition. The plan is to play in front of 20.000 spectators. In words, because you might not believe it otherwise: twenty thousand. In the parking garage of the Munich Allianz Arena, fans who have bought a ticket (3000 are available to Munich residents) can be tested for Covid-19. Only those who have a negative test are allowed into the stadium, which normally has a capacity of 67.000 spectators. UEFA is proud to have reduced the number to a third. Just by the way, so that we understand each other correctly: The Robert Koch Institute has declared the Hungarian metropolis a risk area due to the rapidly increasing corona numbers. Around 2000 Spanish fans should also be allowed to come. Spain is the country most affected by the virus in Europe. This no longer raises any questions. This is just pure mockery and a game with the health of fans across all borders. It's bad enough that Bayern boss Karl-Heinz Rummenigge approves of the idea. It's supposed to be another step on the way to normality. It could be a terrible misstep. French Open with fewer fans Meanwhile, the government in France has slowed down the organizers of the French Open who wanted to turn one stadium into three in order to circumvent the existing regulations. Now only 5000 spectators are allowed in the entire facility. The original plan was to bring in more than twice that number. The reaction of the players to this is remarkable. I didn't find a single voice who spoke against it. The overriding tenor is clear and clear: health comes first. And everyone knows and perhaps even suspects that even 5000 fans can be too many and a danger, especially since the virus has picked up dizzying speed again in France. It is and remains a wild game and none of us necessarily have the upper hand, because the virus has decided to simply ignore borders. Unfortunately, word of this hasn't gotten around too much yet. The egoism of small states is an ally of the pandemic. And so we will follow the football game in Hungary and the Grand Slam tournament of the tennis elite in France with the thought: Hopefully everything goes well. And by that I don't mean any result. That has long since become secondary.
