Sports yearbook 2018: 180 pages of South Tyrolean sports power

“We South Tyroleans are not only enthusiastic about sport, but we are also able to celebrate great sporting successes every year. This gives us pride, but also obliges us to thank all those who contribute and make success possible,” emphasized State Governor and Sports Councilor Arno Kompatscher at the presentation of the 2018 sports yearbook on Monday at the Palais Widmann in Bolzano. The 281 athletes listed in the sports yearbook clearly wrote sports history.

Kompatscher described the sports yearbook as a moment of highlighting great sporting moments. On 180 pages, this overview work contains a look back in words and pictures at the sporting highlights of 2018. The book was edited by SportNews -Editor accompanied. The South Tyrol sports yearbook is appearing in its fifth edition this year and has something new compared to previous years. For the first time, the resignations of South Tyrolean athletes are recorded. One of the sports personalities who retired from active professional sports in 2018 is the former ski racer Manuela Mölgg. In her first year without professional sport, the woman from Val Badia, who was also a guest of honor at the presentation of the 2018 sports yearbook, often felt like a “tourist” who was only present at the races sporadically. She is happy that she was able to achieve three podium places in her last active ski season; this was a good end to a great career.
