Sports yearbook 2020 presented

The cover photo of the freshly printed South Tyrolean sports yearbook 2020 is dedicated to the big riser in the local sports world, tennis player Jannik Sinner, which was presented on Friday in an online press conference by State Governor Arno Kompatscher, Dorothea Wierer and Monika Niederstätter. The yearbook documents the successes of South Tyrolean athletes and reports on the major sporting events in South Tyrol, but also on the pandemic-related restrictions and their effects on popular sports: This is why there is a chapter in the 112-page yearbook that has shrunk by a third compared to the previous year about the effects of the Covid-19 emergency on South Tyrolean sport. Jannik Sinner emphasized in his video message how important sport was for him personally during this Corona period and called for courage and trust. Top biathlete Dorothea Wierer, who can be seen on the front page of the 2019 sports yearbook, also emphasized the importance of sport and the sporting activity of young people, according to the motto: “Sport secures the future”. The sports psychologist and former top track and field athlete Monika Niederstätter complained about the negative effects of the pandemic-related restrictions, especially on girls, who are less motivated to exercise by the new media and are instead reduced to their appearance. The presidents of CONI South Tyrol, Alex Tabarelli, as well as the Paralympic Committee, Massimo Bernardoni, VSS chairman Günther Andergassen and USSA president Carlo Emanuele Bosin also took part in today's presentation. Video messages from South Tyrolean athletes Daniel Grassl, Aaron March, Nicol and Nadia Dellago and Elena Pirrone were recorded. The yearbook, published under the coordination of Deputy Director in the Office of Sports, Laura Savoia, and the editorial coordination of Hannes Kröss from HK Media, was printed by Athesia and graphically designed by Friedl Raffeiner. It is available at the State Office for Sport in Landhaus 12 on Kanonikus-Michael-Gamper-Strasse in Bolzano.
