The 25-year-old beat the Swiss Luca Aerni in the small final on Tuesday evening, eight hundredths of a second made the difference after two runs. The Swiss Ramon Zenhäuser surprisingly celebrated his first World Cup victory in the last race before the Winter Games in Pyeongchang (February 9th to 25th), beating the Swede Andre Myhrer in the final. Straßer thus once again confirmed his status as a specialist for city events: in the previous season he had achieved his only World Cup victory to date in Stockholm, and on New Year's Day he came third in Oslo at Holmenkollen. The Munich player was only eligible to start on Tuesday because he took the quota place of the injured Felix Neureuther. In the third edition of the race on Hammarbybacken, a 93,5 meter high artificial hill in the Björkhagen district, Straßer impressed right from the start: in the round of 0,28 he easily beat Olympic bronze medalist Henrik Kristoffersen (+0,13) from Norway , followed by a win against Swede Mattias Hargin (+XNUMX) in the quarterfinals. The Austrian failed in the quarter-finals and the decision in the fight for the small crystal ball has been postponed until the races after the Olympics. For women, an early decision was ruled out from the outset. The overall leader Mikaela Shiffrin from the USA decided not to start in Stockholm in order to prepare for Pyeongchang. In the absence of last year's winner, Nina Haver-Löseth from Norway prevailed and celebrated the second World Cup success of her career. In the final she beat Wendy Holdener (Switzerland).
