Model athletes and officials honored

In addition to State Governor Arno Kompatscher, CONI President Heinz Gutweniger was also able to welcome Government Commissioner Vito Cusumano, Sporthilfe President Giovanni Podini, VSS boss Günther Andergassen and numerous state presidents of specialist sports associations to the House of Sports

Good less presented 9 local athletes with CONI gold medals. Everyone won a crystal ball in their disciplines in 2018: Peter Fill from Castelrotto won the Alpine Combined World Cup, the biathletes Dorothea Wierer, Lukas Hofer and Dominik Windisch won the mixed relay, Omar Visintin from Algund won the snowboard crossers, and Evelyn Lanthaler and the doubles Patrick Pigneter-Florian Clara in natural track tobogganing. The Val Gardena freestyler Silvia Bertagna, however, surprisingly won the Big Air World Cup.

18 other athletes received silver medals and 66 received bronze medals. In addition, the timekeepers of the Province of Bolzano were awarded the Silver Star and the President of ASV Stegen Josef Schacher was awarded the Bronze.

As part of the award ceremony, OC boss Lorenz Leitgeb also presented the Biathlon World Championships in Antholz, the largest South Tyrolean sporting event of the coming year. The title fights in Antholz will take place in mid-February 2020 and over 160.000 spectators are expected.

On Tuesday evening in Bolzano, in the conference room of the House of Sports, 93 South Tyrolean athletes were awarded the CONI medals for their outstanding achievements in the 2018 season.
