Wolff: Abolition of the Grid Girls is “actionism”

Stuttgart (SID) Mercedes Motorsport Director Toto Wolff did not give the new Formula 1 owner Liberty Media a good reference after his first year of service. “The decisions made are not particularly relevant in themselves, but overall they are not all positive,” said Wolff in an interview with the Stuttgarter Zeitung and the Stuttgarter Nachrichten (Thursday edition). For the new season, which begins on March 25th in Melbourne, Liberty Media has, among other things, replaced the Grid Girls with children (Grid Kids). The start times have been postponed, and with the new live streaming service F1 TV, the premier class will in future offer its own alternative to the TV offer. An expansion of the racing calendar has been on the cards since the takeover. Most recently, Vietnam's capital Hanoi, the US metropolis Miami and the Argentine capital Buenos Aires were considered possible new locations for 2019.
