Petra Zublasing reaches for World Cup medals

Zublasing is starting as the defending champion in the air rifle competition. At the last World Cup, in 2014 in Granada, Spain, she won gold and celebrated the greatest success of her career. The 29-year-old is currently in good shape, as she confirmed with two gold medals at the Italian Championships in July.

Zublasing will make her first World Cup appearance on Sunday night (3 a.m. CEST, 10 a.m. local time in Changwon/South Korea, final from 5 a.m. CEST, 12 p.m. local time). In the air rifle mixed competition she competes with Lorenzo Bacci for the “Azzurri”. The two are among the medal candidates. At the last World Cup in Munich, the woman from Eppan had to settle for 17th place with the sports shooter from Florence.

Mission title defense on Monday Zublasing made her first solo appearance on Monday with the air rifle. The defending champion is the only South Tyrolean at the start. On Saturday, September 8th, the KK three-position fight is on the program. In addition to Zublasing, Barbara Gambaro from Schlanders and Simon Weithaler from Naturno will also be competing (the men will compete on Friday, September 7th). The top 4 win the Olympic ticket in the individual disciplines.

Weithaler and Gambaro will also compete in the non-Olympic prone shooting on Tuesday and Wednesday. Georg Unterpertinger from Auer is taking part in the Target Sprint. Unterpertinger recently won bronze in this discipline at the Italian Championships. The Target Sprint was included in the World Cup program for the first time. Unterpertinger will be in action on September 12th in the individual event and on September 13th in the team event.

When the 52nd World Shooting Championships opens in Changwon, South Korea on Saturday, four South Tyroleans will also be there. One of them, Petra Zublasing from Eppan, wants to cause a sensation again.
