2 times tiebreak: Seppi fails in Paris

Andreas Seppi made it into the main field of the prestigious indoor tournament (prize money 5,2 million euros) as a “lucky loser”. Actually, the Kalterer player was narrowly eliminated in the second round of qualifying, but a place was still free for Seppi due to superstar Roger Federer's rejection (SportNews reported) .

In the first round, Seppi, who is currently ranked 74th in the world, had a bye. In the second round the match was against Moldovan Radu Albot, number 2 in the world rankings.

Seppi had played against Albot three times in his career and won twice. In 2017 he eliminated him in straight sets in both Miami and Antalya. The last duel last year went to Albot, who won 1:6, 6:3, 6:0 in Marrakech. The Moldovan also had the better end for himself on Tuesday evening.

Seppi had a hard time from the start. The first set was pure excitement and balanced, even though Seppi was already 2:5 behind and even had to fend off a set point at 5:6. In the tiebreak, Albot finally prevailed with a score of 7:5 after around an hour of play.

In the second half of the game, Seppi pulled away to 3-0 and 5-2. But Albot didn't give up and took serve from the South Tyrolean in the ninth game to make it 4:5. Immediately afterwards, the Moldovan equalized to 5:5, and shortly afterwards this set also had to be decided in a tiebreak.

In the tiebreak, Seppi led again 4-1, but the “Azzurro” once again lost its lead. Seppi was able to fend off the first match point on his own serve, but Albot safely converted the second after his serve, narrowly won this set as well and triumphed after a total of 1.52 hours of play.

Andreas Seppi from Kaltern had to go into a tiebreak twice in the second round of the ATP Masters in Paris against Moldovan Radu Albot. The South Tyrolean lost twice. Ultimately, Albot won the match in two sets 7:6 (5), 7:6 (6).
