4 hour long rollercoaster ride: Sinner in the quarterfinals!

Phew, what a match that was! Jannik Sinner (ATP 13) is in the quarter-finals in New York - but had to go through a wide variety of emotional states in his round of 73. With the surprise man Ilya Ivashka (ATP 6), the Puster native fought a tennis thriller that lasted almost four hours, in which he already looked like a certain loser in the fifth set. But then, of all times, Sinner played his best tennis and still clinched victory. That's exactly the difference between a very good player and a world-class player. In the end the result was 1:5, 7:6, 2:4, 6:6, 3:XNUMX from the South Tyrolean's point of view.

Sinner has reached the quarterfinals at least once in all four Grand Slams - and that at the age of 21. In the round of the best 8, the youngster will now face the Spanish prodigy Carlos Alcaraz.
