The national tennis team championships begin on Sunday

The women of TC St. Georgen have been playing in the second division continuously since 2008. Last year, the Pusterians managed to stay in the league in the play-out. Like last year, 17-year-old Verena Hofer (2.2) from Val Gardena is number 1 at St. Georgen. But she is currently injured. Captain Gabriella Polito (2.8), who comes from Liguria and is already competing in her tenth season in the Pustertal, can also count on the Slovenian Anja Prislan (2.3) and the Pusterians Jeannine Hopfgartner (2.4), Vera Ploner (2.5) and Silvia Saccani (2.8). To fall back on. St. Georgen starts the new season on Sunday with the away game in Cesano Maderno (Milan). The first home game is on Mother's Day, May 10th against Stampa Sporting Tunin B. The last two championship games on May 31st against league favorite Canottieri Casale and on June 7th against Park Genoa are also two home games. A total of 14 teams compete in the women's A2 series, divided into two circles of seven teams each. The last-placed club in each district is relegated directly, the teams from fourth to sixth place compete in the play-out. The top three, however, play in the play-offs.

TC Bozen in the men's Serie B For men, TC Bozen is South Tyrol's only representative in Serie B following the relegation of TC Gemeinde Bozen. Bozen also only managed to stay in the league in the play-out last year. Captain Andrea Capodimonte's team starts on Sunday with the away game in Parabiago near Milan. The Bolzano team will play their first home game on May 10th against Montecatini. The number 1 in Bolzano this year is Philipp Köll from Merano (2.5) ahead of Armin Sandbichler from North Tyrol (2.7). In addition to the experienced Andrea Capodimonte (2.8) and Stefan Knapp (2.8), the young Tobias Tappeiner (3.2) and Aliosha Bona (3.2) are also in the squad.

The national tennis team championships begin on Sunday

Two South Tyrolean tennis clubs, St. Georgen in the women's A2 series and the TC Bozen in the men's series B, will be competing in the national team championships on Sunday. Both have a common goal: staying in the league.
