Andreas Seppi celebrates the first doubles title of his career

The man from Kaltern and his doubles partner from Bologna, who had already put in a confident performance in the past few days, also offered a very strong performance in the final on the hard court on the Persian Gulf and defeated their rivals 77:6, 2:3 and 6 after 14 minutes of play: 12 on his knees.

While the first two sets were a relatively clear affair, the drama in the super tiebreak literally escalated with every rally. Seppi and Bolelli were already 1:5 behind, turned the tables and took the lead 6:5 before fending off two match points a little later at 8:9 and 9:10 respectively. After that they were practically unstoppable and finally closed the bag with 14:12.

Andreas Seppi's first double triumph was perfect. All six previous final appearances ended in defeat. The last time he missed the final triumph was two and a half years ago in the final in Beijing with Fabio Fognini. For Bolelli, however, this is the fifth double tournament victory of his career.

However, Seppi doesn't have long to enjoy this historic victory. Next week he will join the Italian Davis Cup team, which he will lead into the first round duel with Switzerland as number one from Friday.
