Andreas Seppi mingles with the NHL stars

Andreas Seppi is enjoying his off-season for the third time in a row in his adopted home of Boulder, Colorado, where he bought a house with his wife Michela. South Tyrol's best tennis player is preparing for the new season in a slightly different way: he recently paid a visit to the Colorado Avalanche, the local NHL club.

The reason: Seppi is a good friend of Avalanche goalie Philipp Grubauer, who comes from Rosenheim and often vacations in South Tyrol. The two often meet for dinner and have even gone on a mountain hike together. Last Thursday, Seppi was able to attend the NHL club's training session and also lace up his skates himself.

“When the puck comes at you, it’s pretty dangerous.” Andreas Seppi “My father,” Seppi is quoted on the ATP website, “was an ice hockey player at my house. He taught me how to ice skate and some basic techniques with a stick. I’ve never played on a team, but being on the ice and skating feels good.”

Goalie Grubauer gave Seppi some tips on the ice and was also properly tested by Kalterer - with a few shots, but also in a special way. Seppi brought a tennis racket with him and shot a few balls at Grubauer's goal. Then the roles were reversed and Seppi went into the box - an experience that he was not entirely comfortable with. “When the puck comes towards you, it’s pretty dangerous,” said the South Tyrolean after his slightly different training session.
