He proved on Wednesday evening that he feels right at home at Wimbledon and beat Seppi 6:2, 6:4 and 6:2. He treated the veteran in the lower back area, which repeatedly plagues Seppi. After the treatment break, he continued to play bravely, but as in the first round, Seppi was unable to fight for a break point, so Kudla also won the second set 6:4. Despite the back pain, the Kalterer didn't want to raise the white flag - that's not part of his DNA. He gritted his teeth, caught a break at the start of the third set and treated the spectators to great shots. However, because of his damaged back, he had major problems when serving, which Kudla took full advantage of. The US boy snatched Seppi's serve two more times - and converted his first match point after around an hour and a half. Positive balance Despite this defeat, Seppi can look back on the past grass season with satisfaction. He reached the quarterfinals at the ATP 250 tournament in Eastbourne and the second round at Wimbledon. This means he is expected to climb to 85th place in the world rankings, meaning that participation in the US Open is almost certain. And that would put him on a par with a certain Roger Federer, who also took part in 65 Grand Slams in a row. That alone is recognition enough for an already fantastic career.
