Argentine youngster triumphs in St. Christina

The world number 620 defeated the Brazilian Wilson Leite in three sets 6:7(7), 6:1, 6:2 in the final and secured 10 ATP points as well as 1.944 euros in prize money.

Leite, on the other hand, had to make do with 1.145 euros and six ATP points, but will appear in the top 530 of the world rankings next week. The Brazilian missed out on his sixth singles title and personal double in St. Christina after winning the doubles title with Italy's Marco Bortolotti on Saturday.

Diaz Acosta initially stumbles and then shines For Facundo Diaz Acosta, however, it was the first tournament victory on the ITF tour. The 18-year-old Argentine, number 6 in the junior world rankings last year, didn't have to give up a single set on his way to the final. On Sunday, however, he narrowly lost the first section of the game 6:7(7) after missing two set points in the tiebreak.

However, Diaz Acosta showed a very strong reaction, promptly took the service from Leite twice and shortly afterwards secured the second set 6:1. The South American also dominated the third, decisive part of the game and converted his first match point after 2:20 hours of play to make the final score 6-2. The Argentinian was also able to defeat Manfred Fellin from Brixen in two sets in the starting round.
