Auer and Villgratter win the Christmas tournament in Niederdorf

Over 70 players registered for this tournament in category 3.4.Nc. The number of participants among the men was pleasing. A total of 16 players from the 4Nc to 4.4 category fought in the preliminary round for the two qualifying places for the middle grid, which with 28 players 4.3 to 4.1 promised an exciting game until the end. One of the qualifiers was the young and talented young player from ASC Welsberg Noah Graber, who only found his master in the second round in tennis teacher Alex Egger from the same club. From this round onwards the games were highly competitive, the players showed great and good tennis, with three qualifiers fighting for a place in the final grid. Stefan De Martin from TV Niederdorf, Robert Elzenbaumer from TC Olang and Manuel Pipperger from TV Ahrntal got these tickets, whereby the tournament really started for De Martin and Elzenbaumer, so to speak, and achieved one success after another until both faced each other in the quarter-finals . After a hard-fought first set, which went to De Martin 6:3, he then had to go WO. and thus gave up the semi-final place to Elzenbaumer. His opponent there was none other than the defending champion Egon Taschler from Olang, who didn't really get into tournament mode right from the start, but Elzenbaumer outgrew himself and won the first set 6:4. Even in the second set, Taschler couldn't bring about a turnaround, so Elzenbaumer deservedly secured the first place in the final after winning 7 games. One of the favorites to win the tournament was Tauferer Thomas Auer, who confidently achieved second place in the final in all of his games. In the final, Auer played almost flawless tennis, which Elzenbaumer could do little to counter. With a score of 6:1, 6:2, Auer joined the list of tournament winners. The number of participants for women was limited. Seven players played for the two qualifying places for the final grid, with the two qualifiers being a little surprise for everyone. Gemma Alessi from CT Fano rolled up the field from the very back and won the tournament in the 4Nc category. In the final, she defeated Elina Lestani from TC St. Georgen in three sets in a never-ending game, then Maya Amort clearly in two sets, and then had to withdraw from the following semi-final game without a fight. Eva Keusch 2 player from TC St. Georgen defeated Matilde Gillarduzzi and Waltraud Kirchler, both in category 4.1. Iris Villgratter from Niederdorf safely won the women's tournament. She clearly defeated Keusch in two sets 3.4:6, 1:6.

With the finals on Sunday, the Niederdorf tennis club ended the indoor Christmas tournament and thus the last event in the anniversary season of the club's 40-year history.
