Super Friday is followed by a fiery appeal

It's no secret that the Kremlin Cup is one of Andreas Seppi's favorite tournaments. In 2012 he won the ATP 250 tournament in Moscow, and in 2013 and 2018 he reached the semi-finals. Now the veteran from Kaltern is there again – after a fantastic match against the Russian local hero Karen Khachanov.

Opponent Khachanov, however, had to take a lot of criticism after the defeat against Seppi. The defeat against the South Tyroleans apparently came as more than a surprise to the Russian fans and media: “Disappointing tennis from Khachanov, who has no business being in the top 10 in the world with such performances.”

Pennetta appeal: “Leave him alone” Exactly ten years ago, Flavia Pennetta was the first Italian woman to make it into the top 10 in the world rankings. Six years later, the Apulian triumphed at the US Open in New York and climbed to sixth place in the WTA list. No wonder that Pennetta can fully understand the hype surrounding Jannik Sinner. While the entire tennis world is delighted with the 6-year-old from Sesto, they find words of warning.

In a video released by the Journal of Sport was published, Pennetta appeals to the journalists present: “My advice would be that you talk less about him and that he can move on in peace. He's still so young, just leave him alone.” But even the southern Italian cannot hide the fact that she sees Sinner as a future top player. “I don’t know him very well yet, but I saw him at the US Open this year and I really liked it.”

Sinner himself analyzed his victory soberly as usual: “It wasn’t an easy match. However, I served very well and always maintained my patience. But I also played well at times and not so well at times. In any case, I’m very happy to be in the semi-finals.”

What a thrilling tennis Friday for South Tyrolean tennis fans. While Jannik Sinner reached an ATP semi-final in Antwerp for the first time in his young career, Andreas Seppi secured his second semi-final in a row at the prestigious Kremlin Cup in Moscow.
