Australian Open takes place with Djokovic

Djokovic, alongside women's world number one Ashley Barty, is "at the top of the outstanding field of players," it said on the organizer's homepage on Wednesday. The Australian Open starts on January 17th. There is speculation in the Australian media that Djokovic (34) could apply for an exemption in order to be able to compete in the first Grand Slam of the new year and defend his title. I will miss seeing the fans, but I am looking forward to returning and competing at my highest level,” said the long-time world number one and 23-time Grand Slam winner. The 40-year-old Williams is currently ranked 41st in the world.
