Brzezinski missed out on the peloton

The 16-year-old from Bolzano was clearly eliminated in the last qualifying round against the American Luke Jacob Gamble 0:6, 2:6.

Thanks to his world ranking position, Brzezinski's teammate at TC Rungg, Moritz Trocker, is already in the main field, where he will meet qualifier Brandon Stringfellow tomorrow at 11 a.m. CEST. The 19-year-old American eliminated Manuel Bernard from Bolzano in three sets 6:7, 6:2, 6:2 in the first qualifying round on Saturday.

Sinner will only play his opening match tomorrow at 15 p.m. against the German qualifier Demain Raab. In doubles, however, the 17-year-old from Sesto will face Riccardo Bonadio against the number 4 seeded Italian duo Alessandro Petrone/Nicolò Turchetti on Wednesday

Verena Hofer received a wild card from the organizers in Santa Margherita di Pula for the strong women's tournament. The 21-year-old from Ortisei will play against Frenchwoman Alice Lim (WTA 308) in the first round on Wednesday. In the only direct duel so far, Lim clearly won 25.000:6, 1:6 at the $1 tournament in Turin three years ago. In doubles, Verena Hofer meets Joana Eidukonyte from Lithuania against the British Emily Arbuthnott and the German Katahrina Hobgarski.
