Another user says: “Lately I’ve been seeing Sinner-Djokovic more often than my parents.” Sinner met “Djoker” 2 times in the last 3 weeks, and Sinner emerged victorious twice. In the subsequent doubles, Sinner and Lorenzo Sonego finally pushed the Serbs around Djokovik into the valley of tears. “When you beat a strong player in the Davis Cup, you don't do it for yourself, you do it for the team. I won the game, but the victory belongs to the entire team," said Sinner after the memorable day of tennis, without losing his grip on the ground: "I can't say whether it was the game of my life. But it was certainly an important match.”

Im Singles against Djokovic Sinner was briefly unable to adjust to the new balls when serving on his own: “I didn’t find the right feeling, so I lost the first points in the game – but I got the game back on my side.” So the doubles brought the decision.

Doubles partner Lorenzo Sonego jokingly added: “I went onto the court exhausted because I had cheered Jannik on frenetically in the match against Djokovic.” Before the final against Australia, the Azzurri had to regenerate: “Now we're enjoying the moment, we'll see what happens on Sunday. In any case, Lorenzo (Sonego) and I need a proper session with the physio,” said Sinner.

The Davis Cup captain of the Azzurri, Filippo Volandri, is fully committed to the Sexten player. Even if Volandri is aware that Sinner has had extremely exhausting weeks. “He is our ace, he gives us energy and confidence. Jannik is not only a great player, but also a great person. I like that about him. So yes, I assume he will play in the final."

Italy has the chance to win the Davis Cup for the second time from 16 p.m. In 2, the Azzurri won their only title to date with the legendary Adriano Panatta (against Chile at that time), and they last reached the final in 1976, but lost 1998-1 to Sweden.
