The tennis model from Wolkenstein

Laura Mair actually lives on the tennis court, where she spends several hours a day. That's why it must have felt a little unusual for her when she suddenly found herself in a Milan city park at the beginning of autumn with a basketball in both hands. Of course, the Wolkensteiner didn't change her sport; rather, she had a “part-time job,” as she likes to call it. For a photo shoot for the famous brand “Champion”, she posed in front of the camera flashes and thus intentionally and unintentionally created a link between her two great passions: sport on the one hand and modeling on the other.

Although she is only 18 years old (and will be 19 in January), there is already a lot going on in Laura Mair's life. However, the woman from Val Gardena emphasizes firmly: “I am fully focused on my tennis career.” Understandable, after all the young lady has climbed the tennis ladder step by step in the last few weeks and months. “I collected my first WTA points this year and made it into the world rankings, that was my goal,” explains Mair, who is currently in position 1295 and behind Verena Meliss (WTA 599) and Marion Viertler (WTA 977). is the highest placed South Tyrolean.

The teenager was passionate about tennis from an early age. “I still remember that my sister, who is two years older than me, used to play in Italian Tennis Federation tournaments. To take part you need a 'tessera', a small card. I had to watch back then because I was too small, but I really wanted to take part myself. That's why I simply made one myself at home out of cardboard. “I was so enthusiastic about this sport,” says the 18-year-old, who has also met Jannik Sinner personally, with a hearty laugh. “My goal is to be in the top 100 at some point.” Laura Mair The dream of the “FIT card” has come true for Mair, but the ambitious goals have not diminished. “Next year I would like to move further up the world rankings. My goal is to be in the top 100 at some point.” Mair fights for her dreams with zeal and passion: six hours of training every day in Wolkenstein with her team and coach Stefano Bassetto. The games go to places like Tunisia, Portugal or Turkey, where she takes part in international tournaments worth $15.000 or $25.000. Signed to a modeling agency An intensive program for the 1,77 meter tall tennis player, who attends an online school based in Brescia - and who is under contract with a modeling agency in Milan. “It actually all started in 2019. At that time, a friend told me that there was a casting for models in Jesolo. My mom wasn't that enthusiastic, but my Tata said: Let's drive down.” So there was a short shoot in the popular holiday resort on the Adriatic coast, in which Mair was completely convincing. “This casting was done in 12 different places in Italy, in the end they chose me as the only one. “That’s how I got a contract with the Women Milano modeling agency,” explains the young tennis player. For better perspective: The women's agency also looks after industry giants such as supermodel Naomi Campbell.

“Although time is always a bit short because of tennis, I did a few great shoots for the brands Champion, OVS and Marie Clair magazine.” With the pictures from the Champion shoot, she even ended up as an advertising face on the online mail order company’s website Zalando. Mair is now also looked after by an agency in South Tyrol for which she accepts local orders. This year she walked the catwalk for Oberrauch Zitt in Bozen. About Laura Mair Date of Birth 3.
