Davis Cup: Andreas Seppi loses to Kukushkin

For Andreas Seppi there was nothing to gain in Astana in his 31st singles match in the Davis Cup. In the first set, the Überetscher was able to keep up with Mikhail Kukushkin. In the fifth game he even pulled ahead with a break to 3:2, but had to accept the Kazakh's re-break immediately afterwards. Both players then served their serve and so the first set had to be decided in a tie-break, where Seppi missed a set point when the score was 6:5. However, Kukushkin showed better nerves and prevailed in the end with 10:8.

Seppi misses a set point in the Tiebrak

Seppi had no chance in the second set. His opponent started like a fire engine, winning six games in a row and thus also the second set 6-0. The third set also went in Kukushkin's favor. The Kazakh managed the decisive break to make it 1-0 in the first game. Both players then completed their service and after two hours and two minutes of play, Kukushkin used the first match point on his own serve to win 7:6(8), 6:0, 6:4.

In the match between Kazakhstan and Italy the score is 2:2. In order for Italy to make it to the quarter-finals, Fabio Fognini, who is playing in place of Simone Bolelli, must now win the singles against Aleksandr Nedovyesov (he also plays in place of Andrey Golubev).
