The $15.000 ITF tournament in Bolzano is still in full swing, preparations are already in full swing at the gates of the city, at the TC Rungg tennis facility. Starting next Monday, the stars of tomorrow will once again be hunting for world ranking points at the Sparkassen Trophy 2019 for a week. The tournament, which is also part of the ITF series, has prize money of $25.000 plus hospitality.

What do Nikoloz Basilashvili and Matteo Berrettini have in common? Both are currently in the top 25 of the ATP world rankings. And: Both have already been guests in Rungg, Basilashvili won the tournament in 2013, Berrettini failed in the first round a year later as an 18-year-old wild card player. The audience in Rungg was able to see the two top players live before their big breakthrough.

Andrej Golubev is the big star This year too, the Sparkassen Trophy will feature many young, up-and-coming players who want to work their way, point by point, into the absolute best in the world. In fact, there are not only things to be won at the Sparkasse Trophy for the ITF world rankings, but also for the ATP world rankings: 20 ATP points for the winner, 12 for the finalists, 6 for the semi-finalists, 3 for the quarter-finalists and 1 for the round of 32. When looking at this year's list of participants, in addition to the large number of possible stars of tomorrow, one player stands out who has already been high up: Andrej Golubev. The 2010-year-old Kazakh was number 33 in the ATP world rankings in 565. He has now slipped in the rankings to position XNUMX and is looking for his way back to the top of the world through futures tournaments like Rungg's.
