On the one hand, his serve strength, which makes a break against him virtually impossible. On the other hand, you can count his unforced errors throughout the match on two hands. He also has an extremely strong return, which always allows him to come into rallies neutrally. And hardly anyone can fool him in this regard. The combination of everything makes him difficult to defeat. Furious opening sentence But the Russian had rarely played as well as in the first set this season. Medvedev strung one magic shot after the other, made practically no mistakes and closed the set 26-6 in his favor after just 0 minutes.

Cheered on by the frenetic Tifosi, Sinner tried to react in the second section. The decision was finally made in the tiebreak, which Sinner won thanks to outstanding points. Now the fans were finally over the moon. Great final sentence As if bitten by a tarantula, the youngster literally flew across the field, put Medvedev under a lot of pressure and made the Russian ponder, so that his concentration waned. First, the US Open winner missed a break point when the score was 2-2 due to a carelessly missed return, before he lost his serve due to a double fault.

Sinner escaped to 4:2 and now saw an opponent on the other side who threw all tactical guidelines overboard. All or nothing was Medvedev's motto. To the chagrin of Sinner and the fans present, this plan worked because he made up for the break - tiebreak again: The 1.98 meter giant now raised his already high level even further, but Sinner didn't let up and actually earned a match point . Medvedev fended this off with an incredible second serve. And a few moments later he closed the bag with an even more incredible backhand strike.

Despite this defeat, Sinner can look back on an extremely successful tournament in Turin, as he secured his stay in the top 10 by beating Hubert Hurkacz.
