In the end, Sinner (ATP 2) had to admit defeat to the Slovenian Aljaz Bedene (ATP 34) in three sets 60:3, 6:3, 2:6(6). In the direct duels between Bedene and Sinner it is now 7-3 for the 3-year-old. At the same time, Sinner's incredible streak of success broke. The 1-year-old has won the last two ATP 31 tournaments he has played. On Wednesday, Sinner won the first set relatively easily. The Pusterer took the service from Bedene when the score was 1:2 and played his service games. As a result, Sinner won the first round 1:1. Bedene then hit back. The Slovenian took serve from Sinner twice in the second set and clearly won it 6:3. Sinner in the tiebreak with back pain So a 3rd set had to decide the outcome of the game. Both players served flawlessly for a long time. That's why the deciding round went into a tiebreak. Bedene retained the upper hand with 7:3 points - also because Sinner was struggling with back pain in the tiebreak. He also had to take a medical timeout in the meantime. How seriously Sinner's injury will only become clear in the next few days. There are now intensive weeks ahead for the man from Sexten: Next week he will be playing at the ATP 500 tournament in Rotterdam, after which he will be registered in Marseille. Sinner will then be shown in Dubai (March 14th to 20th). This is also the dress rehearsal for the first Masters 1000 tournament of the season in Miami. Sinner could also take part in the premiere edition in Marbella (Spain) at Easter.
