Dolomiticup in Völs goes to Horst Sparer and Ruth Malojer

A total of 140 players took part in the tournament in Völs, which was also part of the Raiffeisen Grand Prix. In the men's final, Sparer prevailed against the winner of the tournament in Eggen, Wolfgang Pfeifer, 6:3, 6:3. In the semi-finals, Sparer and Pfeifer eliminated the two Völsers Heinrich Haselrieder and Egon Trocker. Curious: For all four semi-finalists, the tournament in Völs was the last in the 4th category, as they have been promoted to performance class 3.5 since Monday.

Haselrieder and Trocker then consoled each other by winning the doubles. In the final, the duo from Völs clearly defeated Davide Gislimberti/Francesco Giovannelli from Trentino 6:3, 6:3.

In the women's competition, top seed Consuelo Chelodi from Cavalese was eliminated in the semifinals by Ruth Malojer. Lombard Rebecca Piattela, seeded number 2, also failed in the round of the best four to local hero Manuela Mair. The 39-year-old from Völs also led in the final against Malojer 6:0, 1:3, but then had to give up due to nausea and so the victory went to the SSV Leifers player. The Dolomiticup continues on August 18th with the 6th and final stage in Moena and then ends in mid-September in Predazzo with the master finale.
