“Selfish”: Kyrgios against hosting the US Open

Players will then be accommodated in a hotel at the neighboring La Guardia airport for four weeks. Option two would be to hold the US Open with qualification, but in this case the field of players would double and the problems with accommodation would increase. In any case, the players should only be allowed to be accompanied by another supervisor. A proposal that has already provoked resistance. The third alternative would be a complete rejection. However, numerous players outside the top 100 rejected this on Wednesday. They fear for income opportunities. A total of $26 million (22,9 million euros) will be paid out for men at the US Open.
