A notable farewell to Jannik Sinner's team

When Jannik Sinner changed coaches at the beginning of this year, there were also some changes in his team. One of them concerned the physiotherapist: Since the end of February, the young star has been trusting in the hands of Pusterer Paolo Cadamuro. Initially the collaboration was only planned for a few tournaments, but in April it was announced that Cadamuro would remain Sinner's physio at least until the end of the season. But now the two have parted ways.

The reason for this is apparently a health problem of the physiotherapist. “A small procedure interrupts a big dream,” Cadamuro wrote on social media on Wednesday. He posted a photo showing him in the hospital. “It was a fantastic experience. All the best for your career, Jannik Sinner,” said the 56-year-old, who comes from San Candido but has been living in Bolzano for some time.

Cadamuro can look back on a long professional experience in the sports world. He worked as a physiotherapist for Alberto Tomba, Dominik Paris and Andreas Seppi, among others. Since 2017 he was responsible for the medical department at FC Südtirol until he became Sinner's personal companion at the beginning of the year. However, even with Cadamuro's help, it was not possible to get the Sesto native's physical problems under control. Most recently, South Tyrol's athlete of the year in the round of 16 of the French Open quit because of knee problems. Is an old friend coming back? So an important gap opens in the Sinner team. It will be interesting to see which hands the 20-year-old will trust in the future. As the Journal of Sport reported, the return of Sinner's former physiotherapist Claudio Zimaglia should not be ruled out either.

Jannik Sinner is expected to return to the tennis stage in mid-June: He is registered for the grass tournament in Halle (June 13th to 19th).
