Federica Di Sarra triumphs at the ITF tournament in Ortisei

In the final of the $15.000 tournament, Di Sarra clearly prevailed against the Russian Alina Silich 6:1, 6:3. Sinich was ranked number five and is ranked 457th in the world.

Di Sarra celebrated her fifth ITF victory on Saturday (she last won in Imola in 2012). She got off to a dream start in the first set and promptly moved ahead to 5-0. Two games later, the tennis player from Fondi clearly secured the section of the game with 6:1 points.

Di Sarra also dominated the second set. Silich didn't find a way to counter the Italian's strong tennis. In the fifth game, Di Sarra got the first, decisive break. Afterwards she didn't let anything go wrong and after 1:11 hours of play she used her first match point for a deserved 6:3 victory. In addition to her fifth ITF tournament victory, Di Sarra can also look forward to 12 WTA points. She will also gain around 70 positions in the world rankings.

On her way to the final, Di Sarra also eliminated the two Val Gardena women Laura Mair and Verena Hofer. In the first round she defeated Mair 6:1, 6:0 and yesterday in the semifinals she defeated Hofer 7:5, 6:3.

Helene Scholsen/Alina Silich win the doubles Silich still had reason to celebrate. On Friday evening she won the double final in St. Ulrich. The Russian teamed up with Helene Scholsen from Belgium against the number 1 seeded Russian duo Alena Formina/Ekaterina Kazionova 6:3, 7:5. For Scholsen it was the fifth ITF double victory and for Silich it was even the seventh.

Federica Di Sarra triumphs at the ITF tournament in Ortisei

The 27-year-old Italian Federica Di Sarra, number 659 in the WTA world rankings, won the “Raiffeisen ITF Val Gardena South Tyrol” in Ortisei on Saturday afternoon.
