FIS modifies the ski calendar

Particular attention was paid to protection against the coronavirus. In order to gather as few people as possible in one place, in many locations only men or only women will take part. In addition, speed races and technical disciplines were separated whenever possible. The FIS Council still has to approve the changes on October 9th. In Val d'Isere, France, for example, there are two weekends in a row in December - first there are two giant slaloms, then a week later a super-G and a downhill. There are similar changes for women. In Alta Badia this year there is a slalom on the program instead of the night parallel race ( SportNews berichtete ). There are a total of 39 races for men and 35 for women at 18 different locations. The highlight of the season will be the World Cup in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy (February 8th to 21st). It starts for both genders on October 17th and 18th with a giant slalom in Sölden/Austria; spectators are not allowed. In addition, World Cups should only take place if at least seven of the ten top nations can travel to the respective countries without restrictions. The ski jumpers had already decided on the same requirement.
