“Shut up”: Murray argues with bad boy Fognini

Fognini won in three sets against Murray in the second round of the ATP tournament in Shanghai. When the sides changed during the match, the Italian and the Scot clashed. The reason: Fognini had irritated Murray by screaming. When the Brit wanted to go for a smash in the third set when the score was 5:5, the Italian screamed loudly. This is gross unsportsmanlike behavior, since in tennis absolute silence is required during rallies.

This infuriated Murray, which is why he let his anger out at the break. “You do this all the time. It doesn’t matter who you play against,” the Scot shouted at Fognini, who has repeatedly attracted attention for his unsportsmanlike behavior in the past. Then Murray talked to the referee: "I had the volley at the net, he screamed and then told me: 'Don't look at me like that?'" When Fognini tried to interrupt him, Murray dismissed him coldly: "Stop mouth!"

The referee agreed with the Briton (“You’re telling me something I already know”), but decided not to impose a penalty on Fognini. Even after the game, Murray had not calmed down and said at the press conference: “He told me not to complain, but to show humor. But he made the noise he’s not supposed to make.”

But Murray's angry appearance was of no use. In the end, Fognini moved into the next round.
