Main field drawn in Val Gardena: Sinner meets Giacomini

Like last year, the $64.000 tournament features four players from the top 100 in the world rankings. The field is led by Frenchman Pierre-Hugues Herbert, who reached the semi-finals in Val Gardena last year and reached the first final of his career on the ATP tour two weeks ago in Shenzhen, China. That's why Herbert is currently ranked 53rd in the world (best ranking). At the start he will face Tomislav Brkic from Bosnia-Herzegovina. The Slovakian Lukas Lacko (ATP number 80), the Spaniard Jaume Munar (ATP number 82) and defending champion Lorenzo Sonego from Italy (ATP number 89) are the other top 100 players. There are a total of eight players from Italy in the main field and seven from France.

South Tyrol's tennis hope Jannik Sinner has received the wild card from the organizers. The number 868 in the world rankings will face the Italian Luca Giacomini, the number 9 in the world, in a wild card duel in the first round on Tuesday, October 18th at 1 p.m.

The number 2 Lacko will face the Croatian Ante Pavic at the start, Munar is waiting for a qualifier and defending champion Sonego, who will be in action in the semi-finals at the Challenger in Florence on Saturday, will play against the Frenchman Constant Lestienne.

In the first round, the duel between the two tour veterans Simone Bolleli and Sergiy Stakhovsky stands out.
