Heel and Hofer on the podium in the European Cup

After fourth place on Thursday, Heel took third place in the second downhill run in Meribel, France. This is the first time in twelve years that the 35-year-old Psairer has climbed onto the podium in the European Cup. The last time he achieved this feat was in 2005 on the descent in Roccaraso.

In Meribel, Heel only had to admit defeat to the two Swiss riders Gilles Roulin and Stefan Rogentin. With Alexander Prast (16th), another South Tyrolean made it to the front of the field. Christoph Atz (31st) and Werner Heel's brother Tobias (40th) missed the top 30.

Anna Hofer climbed one podium higher than Heel on Friday at the Super-G in Davos. The Ahrntal native achieved her ninth podium in the European Cup as second place. Only the Austrian premiere winner Nicole Fest was faster than Hofer in the posh resort in Graubünden. Nadia Delago from Val Gardena had to settle for 40th place.
