Herbert versus Humbert: French final in Val Gardena

In the first set he didn't allow a break point, but wasn't able to take advantage of two break chances because Novak was also playing very well. The first set was decided in a tiebreak, which Herbert secured 7:5 with a strong second serve.

In the second set, Herbert was able to fend off the Austrian's first break point, but with a wonderful lob, Novak took the 3-1 lead. Herbert countered with the re-break to make it 2:3 and made the decisive break in the ninth game to take the lead 5:4. Herbert then served safely and ended the match with his 23rd ace.

Herbert and Humbert have played against each other once so far. At the end of July at the Challenger in Granby, Humbert prevailed in the round of 6 with 4:6, 4:XNUMX.
