Hofer continues his winning streak in the TC municipality of Bozen

A total of 136 players took part in the traditional tournament of the TC Gemeinde Bozen this year. Verena Hofer lived up to her role as favorite among the women.

The 21-year-old from St. Ulrich, who wants to slow down a bit and will no longer play in international tournaments, eliminated Vickie Trocker from Völs in the quarterfinals 7:6(4), 6:4. In the semi-finals, Hofer also knocked Marion Viertler from TC Meran out of the competition 6:1, 6:0.

In the final, the Val Gardena woman beat Elisa Visentin from Trento in three sets 6:4, 4:6, 6:0. For Hofer it was the second victory within seven days, after she had already secured the Open home tournament in Ortisei.

Surprise winner among men In the men's race there was a surprise winner with Carlo Alberto Fossati. The 2.4 player from Lombardy had the upper hand in the quarterfinals against number 2 seed Michael Kerschbaumer 6:3, 6:2, and then he also knocked Sebastian Brzezinski from Bolzano out of the tournament 6:4, 6:4. In the final he then met Nicola Rispoli.

The Merano native, who won the Open tournaments in Meran and St. Ulrich in the last two weeks, eliminated Alessandro Conca 6:3, 4:6, 6:0 in the semifinals. The Lombard caused a sensation in the quarter-finals when he was able to defeat top favorite and three-time winner Patrick Prader from Barbian. In the final, which had to be continued after the first set due to the bad weather on Parma Street, Fossati ultimately came out on top in three exciting sets with 7:6(4), 3:6, 7:6(3).

In the 4th category for men, however, host Alex Eccel Trappolin was at the top. The man from Bolzano brought Carlo De Grandis to his knees in the semi-finals with 6:0, 6:3, and then prevailed in the final against Michele Lorusso from TC Bozen with 6:0, 6:4. Hofer continues his winning streak in the TC municipality of Bozen

After the victory in Ortisei, Verena Hofer also won the Open tournament of the TC Municipality of Bozen on Sunday in the Duke's Palace in Bolzano. In the men's race, however, victory went to Milan's Carlo Alberto Fossati.
