Hofer and Tröbinger win the Open tournament in Val Gardena

The 20-year-old Hofer, number 773 in the world, went into the tournament as the heavy favorite among women. The tennis player from Ortisei only had to play the final, where she met Laura Mair from TC St. Christina-Wolkenstein. Hofer clearly won 6:3 and 6:0. In the semifinals, Mair eliminated Alessandra Gallus from Cagliari.

A local hero, Erwin Tröbinger, also won the men's event. In the final, the 21-year-old from Val Gardena defeated Tommaso Pederzolli from Levico in two sets, 6:4, 6:4.
