Horst Sparer and Miriam Ebner win titles in Neumarkt

Players from all over South Tyrol played in Neumarkt for nine days. Among the men, Horst Sparer from Paulsen prevailed. After he was able to eliminate the top seed Egon Trocker in the quarter-finals and Alexander Weissensteiner from Birchabruck in the semi-finals, he clearly defeated the Brixen 4.1 player Thomas Schraffl in the final in two sets with 6:2, 6:4. Sparer didn't give up a set in the entire tournament. Schraffl, on the other hand, only had the upper hand in the quarter-finals in three sets against Oliver Obrist from Montan, but then defeated Michele Kerschbaumer 6:4, 6:1 in the semi-finals.

In the women's category, Miriam Ebner from Leifer (4.1) won the title. In the final she defeated the number 1 seed, Consuelo Chelodi from Cavalese, 6:3, 7:5. An extremely strong performance from Ebner, considering that Chelodi only lost three games to her opponents until the final game.

A doubles tournament was also held in Neumarkt. In a highly exciting final, the Völser duo Martin Aichner and Tobias Baumgartner prevailed in the third, decisive set against Martin Holzner and Florian Gschnell from Tramin in the champions tiebreak with 12:10.

At the weekend, the second stage of the “Dolomiticup 2017” tennis tournament in the 4th category in Neumarkt came to an end with the victories of Horst Sparer and Miriam Ebner. Despite the rainy days, almost 140 participants took part in the Unterland.
