ITF: Alexander Weis in the main draw in St. Pölten

For the fourth week in a row, after Telfs, Kramsach and Gubbio, Alexander Weis made it into the main draw at the $15.000 tournament in St. Pölten on Sunday. The 20-year-old from Bolzano is currently in impressive form; just four days ago he narrowly missed his first ITF quarter-final in Gubbio. In St. Pölten he was ranked number 1 in the qualification. After a bye in the first round, Weis narrowly defeated the Austrian Robin Peham 7:5, 4:6, 6:4 and prevailed today in the third, decisive round against the Slovenian Anze Arh 6:2, 7:5 , after having to make up a 2-5 deficit in the second set. In the main draw, Weis will now face Russian Bogdan Bobrov, number 8 on the seeding list and 915th in the world.

Five South Tyroleans at the $25.000 tournament in Pontedera With Patric Prinoth, another local player could join the main draw at the $25.000 tournament in Pontedera in Tuscany. Five South Tyroleans took part in the qualification here.

Prinoth clearly won the Val Gardena derby against Erwin Tröbinger in the first round with 6:2, 6:0. On Sunday, in the second round, the 20-year-old defeated the Italian Tommaso Roggero 2:6, 6:3, 6:3. On Monday he will play against Pasquale De Giorgio at 11.30 a.m. for a place in the main draw.

The number 8 seed, Horst Rieder, beat Alessandro Cicconi 6:0, 3:6, 6:1 at the start. In the second round, however, the 20-year-old Völser wild card Tommaso Schold had to admit defeat 3:6, 4:6

15-year-old Jannick Sinner from Sexten beat Leonardo Braccini 6:4, 6:3 in the starting round, but was no longer able to play in the second round match against Leonardo Cocchella today.

ITF: Alexander Weis in the main draw in St. Pölten
