ITF Bozen: Only Rieder and Brzezinski before entering the main field

Horst Rieder and Sebastian Brzezinski were able to hold their own in the first qualifying round on Monday. In the South Tyrolean duel, Völser Rieder brought Jonas Greif from Kalter to his knees in two sets with 1:2(7), 6:3. Curious: Last year, Rieder knocked Greif out of the competition in Bolzano in the first qualifying round.

Brzezinski from Bolzano, however, surprisingly eliminated Rungg's colleague Marco De Rossi 6:4, 6:4. The decisive qualifying round begins on Tuesday morning. The two South Tyroleans expect two difficult encounters: Rieder will face the top seeded Italian Andrea Guerrieri (ITF 2), who defeated Patric Prinoth from St. Christina 664:6, 1:6 on Monday. Brzezinski meets Davide Tortora (ITF 4).

In addition to Prinoth, Georg Winkler and Erwin Tröbinger were also eliminated on Monday. Winkler from Völs, who was struggling with a muscle strain, lost to the Italian wild card player Giuseppe La Vela 6:7(0), 2:6, while Tröbinger from Wolkenstein had to face the number 5 seeded Czech Dominik Recek beaten 3:6, 3:6. The main draw was drawn on Monday Bolzano's Alexander Weis had no luck in the draw, as he will face Brazilian Wilson Leite (ITF 199) at the start on Tuesday afternoon. Although both players have never faced each other, they often trained together when Weis was still at TC Rungg. Weis/Leite play together in doubles and are even seeded number 2.

A difficult task also awaits Nicola Rispoli from Merano: In round 1 he will face Pietro Rondoni, who is currently ranked 591st in the ATP rankings. At the moment Weis and Rispoli are the only two local players in the main draw, but 2 others still have a chance to qualify.
