ITF Bozen: Six South Tyroleans qualify

Six South Tyroleans are contesting the qualification: Georg Winkler, Horst Rieder, Patric Prinoth and Sebastian Brzezinski are there thanks to their world rankings, while Erwin Tröbinger and Jonas Greif received a wild card from the organizer.

Supervisor Pier Luigi Grana from Rimini drew the pairings this evening with tournament director Roland Sandrin. Qualification begins on Monday at 11 a.m. Right at the start there will be the South Tyrolean derby in round 1 between Horst Rieder from Völs, number 9 on the seeding list, and Jonas Greif from TC Bozen from Kalter. Patric Prinoth from Val Gardena was unlucky in the draw, as he has to face the top-seeded Italian Andrea Guerrieri (ITF 672).

Georg Winkler from Völs, number 3 in Bolzano, will face Giuseppe La Vela in the second match after 11 a.m., immediately afterwards Sebastian Brzezinski from Bolzano will play against number 4 seed Marco De Rossi. Brzezinski and De Rossi are teammates at TC Rungg and contested the Serie C championship together last year.

The first match day ends with the game between Erwin Tröbinger from Val Gardena and Dominik Recek from Czech Republic. This match was scheduled as the fourth game after 11.00 a.m.

To get into the main draw, which starts on Wednesday, two wins are needed. Two South Tyroleans are already in the main field: Alexander Weis from Bolzano received a wild card for the main draw from the association, and the organizers gave their wild card to Nicola Rispoli from Merano on Sunday.

ITF Bozen: Six South Tyroleans qualify

The ITF Future tournament “Sparkasse-Alperia Tennis Trophy”, which comes with prize money of $25.000, begins on Monday morning on the sand courts on Martin-Knoller-Straße in Bolzano.
